VICTORIAS CITY HOSTS NEGROS DANCE CARAVAN TO CELEBRATE NATIONAL HERITAGE MONTH

Victorias City, in collaboration with the Filipino Heritage Festival, Inc. (FHFI) and Danspace Ballet School, Manila, proudly hosted the Negros Dance Caravan as part of the extended celebration of National Heritage Month on June 29.
The celebration began with a morning workshop at the Don Alejandro Acuña Yap Quina Arts and Cultural Center, featuring sessions on Classical Ballet by Nina Hayuma Habulan Gelladuga and Contemporary Dance by Georgette Sanchez Vargas.
The sessions aimed to promote appreciation for Philippine cultural heritage through dance and movement, while also providing an inclusive and educational platform for aspiring dancers and enthusiasts.
In the afternoon, the celebration continued at the Victorias City Public Plaza with an all-ballet performance, showcasing the grace and artistry of the participating Manila-based dance groups.
The event officially opened with Dancespace School Director Ma. Antoninette Rufino-Tordesillas delivering the welcome remarks on behalf of FHFI President Armita Bantug Rufino, followed by an inspirational message from Vice Mayor Derek Palanca.
The featured dance groups took center stage and captivated the audience with powerful and expressive routines that highlighted both classical and modern forms of Filipino dance artistry.
This year’s theme, “Preserving Legacies, Building Futures: Empowering Communities through Heritage,” emphasizes the importance of cultural preservation while fostering creativity and unity within local communities.
Through the Negros Dance Caravan, Victorias City underscored its commitment to safeguarding and promoting the country’s rich cultural traditions by supporting community-based and artistic initiatives.
With free admission and open participation, the event drew residents, students, cultural workers, and dance lovers from across the city and nearby areas, marking another milestone in Victorias City’s growing reputation as a hub for arts and culture in Northern Negros. *
