VICTORIAS IN MOTION: OPENING LECTURE SEMINAR KICKS OFF CAPACITY-BUILDING FOR ASPIRING ANIMATORS

Victorias City officially launched LUNSOD LUNSAD Victorias in Motion, a project aimed at positioning the city as a major outsourcing hub for skilled creatives in the animation industry held at the Don Alejandro Acuña Yap Quiña Art and Cultural Center, October 10.
The opening lecture seminar gathered a total of 150 participants comprising Victoriasanon freelance artists and student creatives from six local schools: Central Philippines State University (CPSU), Don Bosco Technical Institute (DBTI), Colegio de Sta Ana de Victorias (CSAV), Negros Occidental National Science High School (NONSHS), Victorias National High School (VNHS), and Laura Vicuña Women Development Training Center.
This seminar was designed to inspire the youth and freelancers to explore global and local job opportunities in the animation industry.
It featured renowned speakers from the field of animation, providing insights into both the technical aspects and the market prospects.
The seminar commenced with opening remarks delivered by Local Economic Development and Investment Promotions Officer Paolo Valladarez, JD, MBA, who emphasized the importance of Mayor Javi's vision of transforming Victorias City into a creative powerhouse and the vital role that skilled animators play.
Victorias City Mayor Javier Miguel Benitez delivered the closing remarks, inspiring participants with a message of empowerment and development, and urging the young creatives of Victorias to seize the opportunities available in the expanding animation industry.
The event's resource speakers included some of the country’s leading figures in the animation industry.
COO and Creative Director for Animation, CGI, and VFX Aldwin Ayao, shared his two decades of experience in animation, discussing the challenges he faced and the opportunities available for Filipino animators both locally and abroad.
He also highlighted the work of the Animation Council of the Philippines, Inc., and its ongoing initiatives to support animators.
Provincial Director of the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Negros Occidental Provincial Office Engr. Mary Jane Agonace discussed DICT’s programs and their relevance to the animation industry.
She emphasized how these initiatives contribute to the growth and development of animators in the province.
President and COO of Holysoft Studios Jinky Joy Besa shared her extensive knowledge of the animation and game development industry.
She talked about her pioneering work and the success of Holysoft Studios, recounting both the challenges and the triumphs she experienced throughout her career.
The event also welcomed distinguished guests such as Animator, NOLITC Instructor, and project partner of Holysoft Studios Don Arado, Trade and Industry Development Analyst of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) - Negros Occidental Kristel Joy Laudenorio, and HR Manager of Holysoft Studios Christine Joy Padesio.
The primary goal of ‘Lunsod Lunsad Victorias in Motion: The Opening Lecture’ was to build a stronger creative workforce in Victorias by offering relevant training and skill development opportunities to local freelancers and students.
By doing so, the city aims to harness its local talent, transforming traditional creatives into digital professionals capable of meeting the growing demands of the global animation industry.
The activity was organized by the Local Economic Development and Investment Promotions Office, in collaboration with the Department of Trade and Industry, to foster growth and international partnerships for Victoriasanon creatives.
This event marks the beginning of a long-term effort to establish Victorias as a key player in the animation outsourcing market.
